Alvina Malcolm, NIC Advanced, has been an interpreter since 2004 working in post-secondary, VRS, DeafBlind, and community settings. She is currently a student at University of Northern Colorado completing a Bachelor of Arts in ASL-English Interpretation and plans to graduate December 2013. She enjoys volunteering in the DeafBlind community through various retreats and with children of deaf adults through Deaf Focus' outreach program. Alvina is currently working as a sign language interpreter in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Barbara Lovas, Th.D., CI/CT, NAD IV, LCD V, MO Licensed – Barbara is the wife of Pastor John Lovas, the pastor of Canal Blvd Baptist Deaf Church, "The Deaf Church in New Orleans." She is presently working at Sorenson Communication as a video relay interpreter.
Barbara is also the owner of New Orleans Sign Language Services, L.L.C., and she holds weekly ASL study groups and mentorship for students of American Sign Language and ASL Interpreter studies, those working on interpreter certification, and families of the Deaf.
Born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana. A recent graduate from Delgado Community College with an Associates degree in Communication: Interpreting in American Sign Language. Currently enrolled at the University of New Orleans in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program and plans to graduate in December 2013. She is also a licensed cosmetologist for the past five years and a secretary for TRC Electric Inc. Being new to the interpreting world, Tara is working on becoming a certified interpreter.
Jamie Cherry, candidate for NIC Certification--Jamie graduated from Delgado Community College’s ITP in May 2013. She has been an active RID and LRID member since she started her ASL/Interpreting studies and looks forward to giving back to the organization that has been integral to her education. She is fortunate to have experienced interpreters helping her to achieve her goal of becoming a certified community interpreter. Jamie also works in a clinical laboratory.

Alla Tarasyuk was born in Ukraine and moved to USA twenty years ago. She received a BA degree in NY. She relocated from NY to LA almost five years ago. She started to work as an ASL Communication Specialist then received a promotion as an ASL Services Coordinator at Louisiana School for the Deaf. She received an ASLTA certification. Her passion is to build the communication bridge between the Deaf and Hearing people in LA!

Mary, CI and CT, NAD III, Ed: K-12, LA V, and LA Department of Education: Ancillary Qualified Certificate, became involved with Deaf Education in 1990 as a result of her youngest son’s speech delay, and began her professional interpreting career in 1992. She obtained her Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from LSU-Alexandria, and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado: Educational Interpreter Certificate Program.
Mary has retired from her local school system after 21 years of service. She established TERPMB SERVICES, LLC, is currently working as a Mentor to Interpreters in various parishes, and as a contract interpreter for community agencies. Mary is a member of RID, LRID, and CenLA-SID.
