ASL Grammatical Features Refresher

**You must sign-in on the attendance form within 15 minutes of the beginning of the training, stay for the entirety of the training, take the quiz and complete the evaluation to receive RID CEUs/certificate**

Refine your ASL grammatical features by diving into key elements of ASL grammar.  Through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and group activities, participants will gain a deeper understanding of grammatical features, strengthen fluency, build confidence, and enhance overall communication skills in a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Educational Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the workshop, the participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and explain key ASL grammatical features

  2. Apply ASL grammatical features accurately in both receptive and expressive communication through interactive activities and discussions

  3. Demonstrate increased fluency and confidence by incorporating appropriate ASL grammatical features in conversations and narratives

Free for all Louisiana residents

$20 for out-of-state residents

Mastering ASL Number Concepts

Strengthen your understanding and use of ASL number concepts through an engaging review of number-related grammatical features.  Through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, participants will develop greater accuracy, fluency, and confidence in using numbers effectively.

Educational Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the workshop, the participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and explain key ASL number concepts

  2. Apply ASL number concepts accurately in receptive and expressive communication through interactive activities and practice

  3. Demonstrate increased fluency and confidence by incorporating appropriate number concepts in conversations and narratives

Beyond the Message: The Interpreter as a Language Specialist

Description: (0.60 PS CEUS)

**You must sign-in on the attendance form within 15 minutes of the beginning of the training, stay for the entirety of the training, take the quiz and complete the evaluation to receive RID CEUs/certificate**

Effective interpreting involves more than simply transferring words from one language to another.  In this workshop, participants will explore the interpreter's role as a language specialist and learn strategies for conveying the message behind the message through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and real-world examples.

Educational Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the workshop, the participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the interpreter's role as a language specialist and explain its impact on effective communication

  2. Analyze and identify the intended meaning, tone, and context behind the message

  3. Apply strategies to convey the message behind the message while maintaining accessibility for consumers with diverse language proficiency levels

Free for all Louisiana residents

$40 for out-of-state residents

  • All RID CEUs have been applied for
  • No interpreters provided
  • Special accommodations requests due by July 5-please email them to secretary@lrid.org
  • Request for refunds must be received by July 10
  • Sponsored in part by RAB funds and LCD funds
