LRID Professional
Development Fund

**Deadline for applications is March1, 2026 for events July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026.**

Number of Grants

  • Maximum of one grant per year per member

    • Year of the grant:  July 1,  2025 - June 30, 2026

  • Depending on available funds, no maximum number of applications per individual per lifetime

  • Event must provide RID CEUs 

    • national, regional and/or state interpreter conference, workshop, webcast, etc.

  • Second application accepted after documented completion of previous award requirements

 

Grant Amount

  • $500 maximum per recipient per professional development event

  • Professional development fees of less than $500 will be paid at actual cost

  • Any of the $2,000 allocated that are not granted, a second call for applicants will be issued, with new timelines

Timelines

Granted once per year

 

November 5, 2025

  • LRID issues call for applications

  • Applications accepted for July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026 events

March 1, 2026

  • Application closes

​

By March 15, 2026

  • Applications reviewed by the BOD

  • BOD will assess the need for an Ad Hoc Professional Development Grant committee, and if necessary a Committee will be established

  • Applicants' names are removed prior to sending to Committee

  • Rubric will be used to assess completion of the application criteria

By April 15, 2026

  • AD Hoc PD Committee recommendations sent to LRID BOD

​

By May 1, 2026

  • LRID BOD selects recipients or votes on Committee recommendations or refers vote to members (depending on possible conflicts of interest)

By May 15, 2026 

  • Grants announced (unless sent to General Membership for a vote)

  • Recognition given during LRID Conference, via LRID newsletter, and/or email

Agreement

  • Completion of agreement between recipient and LRID agreeing to adherence of requirements 

 

Residency

  • Must be a current LA resident (proof required)

  • LRID membership required (consecutively for the past 12 months)

 

Reimbursement

  • Participant pays registration fees

  • Upon completion of event, submit invoice requesting reimbursement

  • Submit verification of attendance with RID transcript

  • Requests to LRID to pre-pay registration fees are considered on a case-by-case basis

 

Verification of CEUs

  • RID Transcript highlighting specific conference, workshop, webcast, etc.

    • submitted within 45 days at conclusion of event

    • for conferences, minimum of 70% of available CEUs must be earned 

  • Required to be considered for future grants

Committee will use a Rubric created by the BOD 

Applicant names will be withheld from the committee
