Testing Fee Grants

Includes any exams/assessments registered for to be taken/taken July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2026.

Number of Testing Fee Grants
  • Maximum of two (2) per individual per lifetime (regardless of test taken and/or repeated)

 

Approved Exams/Assessments  
  • Applicants must meet any prerequisites required by the testing entity.

 

Amount

  • $500 maximum per recipient per test/assessment

  • Testing fees less than $500 will be paid at actual cost (proctor fees not included)

  • Grant will reimburse CASLI testing fees at RID member rates

Timelines

Awarded once per year
  • Includes any exams/assessments registered for January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025

 

January 15, 2026

  • LRID issues call for applications

March 31, 2026

  • Deadline for accepting Application

By April 15, 2026

  • Applications reviewed by BOD

  • Applicants names are removed prior to sending to Committee

  • BOD will assess the need for an Ad Hoc Testing Fee Grant Committee and, if necessary, a Committee will be established

  • Rubric will be used to assess application criteria

April 30, 2026

  • If applicable, Committee recommendations sent to LRID BOD

By May 15, 2026

  • LRID BOD selects recipients, or votes on committee recommendations, or refers vote to members (depending on possible conflicts of interest)

By June 1, 2026

  • Grants announced (unless sent to General Membership for a vote)

  • Recognition given during LRID Conference, via LRID newsletter, and/or email 

        will be issued, with new timelines

Agreement
  • Completion of agreement between recipient and LRID agreeing to adherence of requirements 

 

Residence and Membership Requirements

  • Must be a current LA resident (proof required)

 

Reimbursements

  • Recipient pays testing fee and is reimbursed 

  • Upon payment of testing fees, invoice LRID and include copy of receipt 

    • Recipient only has to verify fee payment, not test results

  • LRID remits reimbursement to applicant

 

Application Components 

  • Application

  • Essay explaining how the exam/assessment will help the interpreter achieve their overall career goals

  • RID Transcript of CEUs (for the last three years)

  • Resume

 

Committee will use a Rubric created by the BOD 

Applicant names will be withheld from the committee
